Kindness, Redemption, Peace
Additional reading on kindness: Exodus 15:13; Deuteronomy 7:8-9; Psalm 103:4; 106:7, 10; 136:10-15.
We see hesed revealed in different ways throughout Scripture. It is represented as:
Kindness
Covenantal
Loyal
Mercy
Grace
Compassion
Love
Faithful
Connected with the flower of hesed is the stem of redemption. Those needing redeemed are the:
Broken
Slave
Lost
Evil
When redemption and loving-kindness intersect, it produces a type of shalom, that is peace from the Lord. We are able to see peace through the clever reversals produced by the author of Ruth. For example, look at:
Living/Dead/Life again at marriage (1:8, 2:20, 4:15)
Where rest is found (1:9, 3:1, 4:15)
Full/Empty (1:21, 3:17, 4:15)
Pleasant/Bitter (1:20, 4:16)
